What is this course about?

This course is a series of lessons for those interested in meditation, career success, and finding your own "warrior's path". Being a career warrior is about learning to use the "energies of the world" - those all around you, particularly those related to your career, in a way to enhance, rather than degrade, your state of consciousness.

Oftentimes, a person starts down this path with the intention of trying to find out how "meditation and spiritual techniques" can help them with their career. Or how they can find the "right job" because they're unhappy with their current job. Or to see how they can find more fulfillment in life in general.

These are all noble goals, and the techniques offered here are a first step on a life-long path of self-discovery that can lead to your own warrior's path.

The "path of the career warrior" is a collection of techniques and lessons that I've encountered over the years which can help to bridge the gap between the realms of our spirit and our daily lives. This involves doing "active meditation", using various techniques of "self reflection", and developing a connection with the hidden worlds. By the time the course is over, the student will have laid the foundation for continuing down this path on their own.

An outline of the course is included on the web site.

What is my own "warrior's path?"

Each of us has a unique set of talents, interests, perceptions, and challenges to overcome. Each of us has a set of spiritual lessons that we are here to learn, and each of us has a contribution that we can make. Your unique combination of these two things (the spiritual lessons that you have to learn and the contributions that you can make) is your "warrior's path". This is not a static thing, but something that evolves with you throughout your life.

In this course, we will lay the foundations for finding and travelling this path.

How can my work be spiritual?

To make your work more spiritual, you have to be able to recognize the interaction that exists between your state of mind and everything around you. This includes getting an understanding of how what you do when you meditate effects your career, and how what you do at work affects your state of mind, which in turn effects your meditation. The key thing about the hidden worlds are that they impact us, all the time, and by developing a connection with them, we can benefit ourselves here and now.

What are the hidden worlds?

The "hidden worlds" is a term that I've found useful to refer to the "occult" or "hidden" aspects of life. The hidden worlds include everything that is "beyond the physical" - that you may have heard of and may have experienced, but cannot feel or touch with your five senses. This includes your dreams, your aura, your "other self", your beliefs, your karmic patterns, and most of the other things that explorers of mysticism talk about but cannot be easily explained.

Understanding the hidden worlds is a life-long task. However, in this course, we will begin to explore the relationship between your career, your work, your state of mind, and the hidden worlds.

What is the format of the course?

The course is a multi-week e-mail course. Currently it runs four weeks. Each week there is a lesson which contains a series of attitudes to adopt, and a set of exercises to do. These exercises, when taken together, contribute the "bricks and mortar" of the Path of the Career Warrior.

The lesson will be e-mailed to you at the beginning of the week. You should read it once over the weekend, and then practice the exercises for the rest of the week. They are cumulative exercises … the exercises in one week add on to the exercises from the previous week.

Questions and answers, as well as specific help on your particular tasks, will be offered via e-mail.

Why is it an e-mail course?

We've all taken courses, some of which helped and some of which didn't, but the value in a course is not just the time you spend "reading" or "listening", but rather the time you spend "practicing". This format is ideal because it lets you practice on your own, before we move on to the next lesson.

If it were a physical course, you'd have to travel to a particular location, and the scope of who could take the course at any given time could be limited.

Rather than limit the course to just those people who can make it to a particular location, I thought the best approach is to send the course to you where you are. One of the central tenets of the Career Warrior is that the world around you, the world of your everyday life, your home, your work, can become more magical and spiritual.

Can't I just read the material on the web site? - or should I take the course?

The materials on the web site are meant to "introduce" you to the concepts and the path of the career warrior. However, I've found that regarding spiritual matters, reading isn't enough - you have to experience things for yourself. This is best done in a structured course, where you can focus on a specific task, or exercise, at a given time and can interact with an instructor to discuss your experiences.

Also, travelling this path may begin with a state of mind, but requires a bit of commitment to get the results that you may want. When we are committed to an external "program" or "course", we tend to follow through on our commitments more than if it were done on our own.

What do I have to do to take the course?

The course is intended for those seriously interested in walking down this path. The readings on the web site are a good introduction to the material. If you liked/enjoyed these, and are interested in delving deeper, then this course is for you.

In order to take the course, you will have to be ready to commit at least half an hour each day in practicing these techniques and otherwise spending time on self-discovery, in addition to the time you spend at work. Some of you may already spend time on spiritual pursuits on a daily basis, and so this fits well. Some of you may not do this, and part of your challenge is to figure out how to fit this into your daily life.

You will have to fill out a short application, about your interests, your job, your career, and your commitment to pursuing spiritual matters, to qualify for the course.

What does the course cost and when is it offered?

The course will be offered periodically. Email me to find out the next time it is offered.
